We had the privilege of seeing a Skyline R33 GTR at a Wednesday street night at our local dragway. My girlfriend and I were taking turns racing my car that night, and then I noticed the R33 in the pits, and told her to take a few runs in a row.
I saw it on the return road, and asked if he needed any help, as he had his hood popped. (after I drooled for a minute, as an R33 GTR is my dream car, yet there are very few in the United States).
I offered him use of my tools if he needed, and he eventually headed over and took a look at his car, as the radiator was leaking.
I was excited to tell my girlfriend that we may have an R33 headed over to pit with us, and she was pretty psyched herself.
He was able to patch it up temporarily, enough to make two passes, that we also caught on film.
In this second video, he lined up with an R35, which is a rarity. I would bet you could count on one hand the amount of times this has happened in the U.S. for the R35 is quite rare as well, and the R33 is almost non-existent.
Needless to say, if you are a fan, you can appreciate this, especially in the U.S.
The cool thing about this, was it made it feel all the more tangible that one day I too could own my own R33.
I have set my first dream car on an R35, as they have been imported legally, and that will keep it simple, as for regulations etc., yet I would love a Skyline R33 GTR!
